Q: Can I legally purchase a firearm over the internet?

A: YES! It is legal and the process is pretty simple. Here is a quick summary of the steps:

  1. Select your products and complete your purchase through our website. Use your physical and billing address during checkout.
  2. Locate your favorite local gun shop or FFL who is willing to receive the firearm and complete the necessary background check paperwork before transferring the firearm to you. You can search for local FFL Dealers Here. Some dealers do not charge for a transfer, most charge around $20.
  3. Provide your selected dealer with the contact information for Founding Fathers Armory (alex@foundingfathersarmory.com), and ask them to email a copy of their us their FFL. They must email us a copy of their FFL before we can ship your product, and you must be the one to request them to send us their information.
  4. Once we receive the FFL we will ship your firearm directly to them. They will contact you once they have it, where you can  complete the necessary paperwork to receive it. You will need to fill out ATF From 4473. Please bring a picture ID with a current address.

Q: Why do I need to be 21 years old or older to purchase an AR Lower Receiver?

A:  A lower receiver by itself is not designated, made, or intended to be fired from the shoulder, and is therefore not a rifle under federal law. It is however still a firearm under federal law. Since it does not fall under the classification of rifle or shotgun it is classified under “Other”, meaning it could be built into an AR rifle or pistol. Since the lower receiver can be made into a pistol you must be at least 21 years of age to purchase it from a licensed dealer. There is no “grey area” on this matter, as the laws are clearly written and have been in effect since 1968.

Q: I am only buying a Lower Receiver, and not an entire rifle. Why do I need to use a local FFL and complete a background check?

A: Under federal law the lower receiver of an AR is THE firearm, since it is the only part of the firearm to contain the serial number.

Q: Are there State Laws that govern the purchase and use of AR Lowers?

A: Yes. Because there are 50 states and their laws are always changing you (The Purchaser) are responsible for knowing, understanding, and obeying your local and State Laws. Founding Fathers Armory is in no way responsible for determining whether products offered for sale via this website are legal in your State, County, City, or other jurisdictions.

Q: What I need to return a product because I did not pass a background check?

A: If your local FFL is unable to complete a transfer because you are legally prohibited from possessing a firearm or for any other reason excepting manufacturers defect, you will be charged for outbound and return shipping plus a 15% restocking and handling fee. The balance of your purchase price will be credited via your original payment method within 3 business days after the product is received by our shipping department.

The most important thing to remember is that if you think you even might be legally prohibited from possessing a firearm is to verify before placing an order. It is your responsibility to check before placing and order.
